Seattle is nation's No. 6 destination for moves

Despite a flagging economy, Seattle is the sixth most popular destination for movers, according to a recent study.

Las Vegas is the top destination for people making a state-to-state move, according to a survey by moving coordination service Relocation.comof New York. Las Vegas was followed by Denver; Charlotte, N.C.;Phoenix/Mesa, Ariz.; and Portland, Ore. Orlando, Fla.; Washington, D.C.; Atlanta and Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg, Fla. rounded out the top 10. 

Some areas of the country fared worse than others. The Relocation.com survey indicated that for every 100 people looking to move to Michigan, 210 were looking to move out and for every 100 people looking to move to Ohio, 150 were looking to move out.
